Yes. The PicoPlus laser uses four wavelengths: 1064nm for black and dark blue pigments, 532nm for red and orange pigments, 595nm (Gold Toning handpiece) for additional color coverage, and 660nm (Ruby Touch handpiece) for blue and purple pigments. Each wavelength is selected to match the specific ink color for optimal results.
The number of sessions depends on the tattoo's size, color, depth, and age. Generally, 6 to 10 sessions are needed at 4 to 6 week intervals. Older tattoos tend to clear faster, while newer tattoos may require more sessions. Individual skin regeneration capacity also plays a role.
Picosecond lasers use selective photothermolysis to destroy tattoo pigment while minimizing damage to surrounding skin. Scarring is uncommon with proper treatment. However, very deeply embedded tattoos or post-treatment infection could potentially cause scarring, so proper aftercare and hygiene are important.
