Acne scar treatment in Seoul when you’re visiting: planning multiple sessions
Acne scar treatment is not a one-visit treatment. Sessions are usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart and collagen remodelling continues for 3–6 months after each session, so a full course usually takes 6–12 months. If you are visiting Seoul, plan it as a series of trips or a longer stay: the first visit is for assessing your scars and planning the course, and the sessions are timed to your travel dates.
Planning acne scar sessions around your trips
| Stage | What happens | What to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Before your first trip | Send us your travel dates; photos of your scars taken in natural light help us prepare. | If you have active acne, it is calmed first. |
| First trip | Consultation with Dr. Jeong Kyungmuk: your scars are assessed by type (icepick, rolling, boxcar) and depth, and the plan is set. For Potenza, same-day treatment after the consultation is typically possible. | Recovery depends on the method (see below). |
| Between trips | The skin heals and collagen remodels. | Follow the written aftercare instructions you receive. |
| Later trips | Re-assessment and the next session, usually 4–6 weeks or more after the previous one. | Sessions can be planned to fit your travel dates. |
| The whole course | Usually 6–12 months, depending on scar depth and extent. | The number of sessions is set at your consultation. |
Recovery depends on the method
Which methods you need depends on your scar types. Tethered rolling scars may need subcision to release the bands underneath; RF microneedling and fractional CO₂ laser work on the scar surface and the dermis. Dr. Jeong decides the combination and the order at the consultation.
- Potenza (RF microneedling) — redness and mild swelling for the first few days.
- Subcision with TriFill Pro — daily activities right away; mild swelling or bruising can appear and settles over the following days.
- Fractional CO₂ laser — the longest recovery of the three, so allow more days before photos or a flight.
If your flight is soon after a session, let us know your schedule at the consultation and we will advise you. Fees are listed on our price guide; the exact fee is set after your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I finish acne scar treatment in one trip?
Usually not. Sessions are usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart and collagen remodelling continues for 3–6 months after each session, so the course is planned across several visits.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on scar depth and extent. Dr. Jeong sets the number of sessions at your consultation.
What if I can only come back every few months?
Tell us how often you can visit. Sessions can be planned to fit your travel dates, and Dr. Jeong sets the order of treatments with that in mind.
Can I fly right after a session?
If your flight is soon after treatment, let us know your schedule at the consultation and we will advise you.
I take acne medication. Can I still be treated?
Please tell us about your current medications before your visit, especially isotretinoin. Dr. Jeong checks them before deciding on treatment.
